VALEA CETATII CAVE, THE PLACE WHERE THE BATS CAN LISTEN TO CLASSICAL MUSIC CONCERTS…

Located just outside Rasnov on the road towards Poiana Brasov, Valea Cetatii Cave might be a small one but is definitely worth a visit. Impressive through its height rather than its length, the cave’s main hall almost resembles  a cathedral and has amazing acoustic qualities therefore during the summer is an ideal place to host classical music concerts.

The cave was discovered in 1949 the place was not heavily explored or visited until more recent years.  In 2010 the entrance was enlarged and the cave opened its doors for guided tours and organised concerts.

During the tour the visitors can admire the permanently growing stalactites and stalagmites and occasionally the lights will be switched off allowing the guests to experience the complete darkness and silence of the cave.

VISITOR INFORMATION

The best way to reach the cave is by car but you can also walk there. If you don’t have a car, a taxi fare from Rasnov town centre will cost around 5 RON.

Bear in mind that you can only walk along the road leading towards Poiana Brasov (no footpath) or through the forest!  If you want to walk through the forest start from the town centre up towards the Rasnov Citadel, then down again towards the Dinoparc ,  then 15 min along the main road and then another 15 minutes through the forest. This journey does require a relatively good level of fitness and appropriate footwear.

If you drive there is a parking place next to the road where you can leave your car and a marked path through the forest.
